Hal 7 "Okay" response
« on: February 01, 2018, 01:00:28 pm »
Hi all,

I recently upgraded to Hal 7 and now for some reason whenever i agree with Hal or i tell him something he responds with "okay". He seems to do this a lot with those types of responses. For example:

user: good morning
Hal: good morning user, 10 o' clock is a perfect time for a break
user: yes it is
Hal: okay

user: my dog's name is rex
hal: okay

Is this normally how it should work? I never got that type of response from the old Hal brains. I'm using the same plugins as before with Hal 6.2. Not sure if he learned this or its a built in response.

Anyone else experience the "okay" response?

I think it might depend on whether you chose to use the Default Hal 7 brain or your Previous Hal 6.x brain.
Just copy it to your Hal 7 folder and you should see some choices when you go to the Options Brain menu.

The Default Hal 7 brain basically knows a lot but nothing of your previous encounters or learned information.

Thanks Art! I've tried each option before and different brains but Hal still says "Okay" all the time. Thats kind of why i thought it might be in the code somewhere. Its annoying. I'll try a clean slate brain and see if that fixes it.

Just a thought, where do you have Hal's Learning Slider positioned? Might be a shot in the dark but wouldn't hurt to see.

Knight this is just a thought and may or may not help...

In the Brain Option do you have is set for: Mixed Cloud/Local Learning???

If so change it to: Local Learning only.

Shut down HAL for a few minutes so the Cloud connection disconnects and then run HAL again and see if that changed anything... If Hal's still saying okay all the time then change it back and maybe Robert knows what is causing it...

I know is may sound crazy and probably is but what the Hell, worth a try... hehe :D

Another thought, are you using the "Corrections Tutor" Plug-in????

If you are did you happen to do a: command correct or command replace (Empty Spaces) with okay ????  I think but not sure that would replace everything with Okay...

You can look in the Brain Editor for the Corrected Table and see if you happened to do that and correct it by deleting the entire entry...
